Buy now, pay later through DuitNow QR
Your customer can pay in instalments with SPayLater or Boost PayFlex when they scan your DuitNow QR code. You do not set up anything new: if your portal accepts DuitNow QR, your customer can already do this.
How it works
Section titled “How it works”The customer chooses the instalment plan inside their own app, after the scan:
- Your checkout shows your DuitNow QR code.
- The customer scans it with the ShopeePay app or the Boost app.
- In the app, they choose SPayLater or Boost PayFlex and an instalment plan.
- They confirm the payment in the app.
You get a DuitNow QR payment for the full amount. The instalments are between your customer and the provider. To see each app screen, see How your customer pays with DuitNow QR.
Through DuitNow QR or a direct channel
Section titled “Through DuitNow QR or a direct channel”A direct pay later channel is a separate channel on your checkout. This table shows the differences:
| Through DuitNow QR | Direct pay later channel | |
|---|---|---|
| Setup | Nothing to set up. It works with DuitNow QR. | Apply to Bayarcash first. |
| Where the customer chooses the plan | In their app, after the scan | On your checkout |
| Your fee | The DuitNow QR fee only. The customer pays any instalment charge to the provider. | The pay later fee |
| Limit for each payment | SPayLater: maximum RM 1,000. Boost PayFlex: no fixed maximum at the moment, but Boost can change this. | Higher, up to the customer’s full limit |
| Plans on your checkout | Not shown | Shown |
The fees for each channel are on the Payout calculator page.
Which one to use
Section titled “Which one to use”Pay later through DuitNow QR costs you nothing extra, and it needs no setup. SPayLater through DuitNow QR stops at RM 1,000. For a larger amount, the customer must use another way to pay. Boost PayFlex has no fixed maximum at the moment. The provider can change its limits at any time.
A direct pay later channel suits higher amounts, and it shows pay later on your checkout. You can use both: keep DuitNow QR on, and add a direct channel when your customers buy larger items.
- Do not promise a pay later limit to your customers. SPayLater stops at RM 1,000 through DuitNow QR. The providers can change their limits, and each customer’s own limit can be lower.
- Tell your customers about pay later in their app. Your checkout shows only the DuitNow QR code. Many customers do not know about this option.
Common issues
My customer has SPayLater, but the option does not show when they scan my QR code. Why?
Through DuitNow QR, the maximum for SPayLater is RM 1,000 for each payment. For a larger amount, or if the customer's own limit is lower, the app shows no SPayLater option. The customer can pay with their wallet balance or a bank account instead.
Do I pay a pay later fee when my customer uses SPayLater through DuitNow QR?
No. You get the full amount as a DuitNow QR payment, at the DuitNow QR fee. The customer pays any instalment charge to the provider. See Payout calculator for the fees.
